Some Windows 10 upgrades have been failing or installing improperly.
Make sure you clean your system of Malware and viruses before attempting the install to any Windows system upgrade.
If you are running Windows 8.1, you have some time to update to Windows 10. If your system is running OK, I would give it a couple of more months before I think about upgrading.
My recommendations for new computers are Windows 10, 64 bit Operating System with 8GB memory.
Nice features to consider are are card readers, an HDMI port on a laptop. USB 3 is much faster data transfers for backups and large files.
Should you receive such a call, it is a scam. Hang up, clean your computer or have someone check it soon. If lightly infected, it would probably get worse if you do not take care of it. This could be a serious threat to your computer and your data.
Be suspicious of of any programs that you did not install.
Check to see if the email is from a valid email address. Sometimes it will have a contact in your address book listed. It may not be their correct email address.
If you see misspelled words, just a single line with an odd email link, delete the email.
Be careful of popups trying to update your computers drivers or clean your system.
They may give you more than you bargained for.
